• Found Key

A yale type key on a distinctive fob with a yellow tab that says ‘Back Door’ has been found at the junction of Fairstead Drove and New Road/Warren Road this afternoon. It has been handed to the Parish Council Clerk, anyone wishing to claim the key can call on 01760 632011, and if they can describe the distinctive key ring attachments I will make arrangements to reunite them.

  • Warren Road Road Works Closure

On Thursday 23rd between 07:00 and 16:00 there will be roadworks on Warren Road (only the section in the Warren) which will cause delays when accessing the car park.
Works will only affect those wishing to get to/from the car park.
To undertake roadside felling we have applied with Norfolk CC to run a temporary obstruction system, essentially closing the road/delaying traffic for 15 minutes each hour whilst we fell trees alongside the roadside. If all goes well we should be finished well within the allotted time but booked the day to give us ample time just in case. We will have staff on site to warn anyone arriving to the car park that they may be delayed leaving.
There is no felling planned on Spring Lane itself – the trees around the parking spots there will be retained.
  • Shouldham Warren Logging

Forestry England are looking at a September start to get half of the planned forestry operations completed this calendar year – map attached.  The plan is to work the sites to the south of the drain that intersects Shouldham Warren this year and complete the works to the north alongside other operations in The Sincks next summer.

We will not need to close the PROW or car park for this section of the works so whilst we will be prohibiting access to the south west corner of Shouldham Warren the vast majority of the woodland will remain open for public access.

    Shouldham Warren 2021

I will be also be speaking to out timber customers and hauliers in the coming weeks to discuss minimising lorry traffic at key times – school opening/closing etc… and will keep you informed.

  • Pre-Submission consultation period for the Local Plan review

Pre-Submission consultation period for the Local Plan review

    Dear Sir/Madam,

The Borough Council has been preparing a Local Plan Review to update the current Core Strategy and Site Allocations and Development Management Policies Plan.  Consultation took place on a draft Local Plan Review document in 2019.  At the meeting of the Borough Council on 8 July the Council agreed to proceed to the ‘Pre-Submission’ consultation stage.  What this means is that we will publish a version of the Local Plan Review (and supporting documents) in the form that the Borough Council wishes to submit for Examination and provide an opportunity for representations to be made about it.  These will then be passed to an Inspector who will undertake an ‘Examination’ of the Local Plan Review.

I am writing to you as a person or organisation who is interested in the local plan process (either as a statutory consultee, or someone who has previously expressed an interest in being informed about this) to tell you that the Local Plan Review will be open for representations from Monday 2 August until 5 pm on Monday 27 September 2021.

Details of how to view the relevant documents and make representations are included on the Statement of Representations below.  There will be on-line consultation through our website/consultation portal, and downloadable forms, guidance notes, etc.  The period for representations is currently active and you can view the version of the Local Plan Review as agreed by Cabinet/Council and supporting documents as preparation should you wish to make formal representations when the consultation goes live.  This can be seen at: Local Plan Review (2016 to 2036) | Local Plan Review (2016 to 2036) | Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk (west-norfolk.gov.uk)

  • Million Trees for Norfolk

    Hello,

We’re delighted to announce that free tree packs are now available through Norfolk County Council, as part of a Defra-funded pilot project to increase planting across the county.

Individuals, community groups, schools, businesses, and landowners can apply for bundles of 10 or 20 trees ahead of this planting season. Applicants will need the space to plant or landowners permission, and time to plant and maintain their trees to ensure they thrive.

Trees will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis up till September 30th, and successful applicants will need to be able to collect their trees from designated collection points in Norfolk. The bundles include biodegradable guards and stakes.

Trees planted through this scheme can be recorded on the Norfolk Tree Map, contributing to the 1 Million Trees for Norfolk initiative. The map will show how tree planting projects around the county are creating stepping stones and green corridors for nature and people.

To learn more and apply for free tree packs, please visit our website.

We hope to have other tree, fruit tree and hedging plant offers in the near future and will let you know about these as soon as we can.
