The King’s Arms quiz night is held on the last Sunday of every month. The quiz starts at 7pm and costs £2.50 per person, ideally in teams of four. All proceeds will go to charity, all welcome.

Each year local councils are invited to submit bids for highway improvement schemes. For 2017/18 the fund is £300,000 with Norfolk County Council funding 50% of the cost of successful bids. With a very welcome additional £86,000 contribution from Safety Camera Partnership (Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies) towards road speed activated signs. Town and parish councils contribute the balance.
Shouldham Parish Council in partnership with Norfolk County Council have previously funded a SAM2 sign and village TRODs.

Volunteers are being sought to set up a Community Speed Watch scheme in Shouldham. The project was launched in Norfolk in 2007, allowing communities to play an active part alongside the Police and the Safety Camera Partnership in tackling the problem of speeding in their neighbourhoods.
In an effort to help tackle the common complaint of speeding, a team of volunteers, (minimum of six) who have the parish council’s verbal support, will be trained to use speed guns across the village. One of the volunteers acts as the co-ordinator and is the point of contact for the team and responsible for looking after the radar equipment.
The group will be issued with a speed radar gun, two Community Speed Watch signs and reflective jackets. Volunteers then carry out speed checks in 30 and 40 mph limits working to Norfolk Constabulary’s Community Speed Watch guidelines.
Returns are completed, logging various details such as vehicle registration mark, make, model or colour. These are then sent into the Safety Camera Partnership team within 48 hours, who obtain the registered keeper details.
Registered keepers whose vehicles are observed breaking the speed limit will have their details recorded and will receive a warning letter requesting them to keep their speed down. Those who persistently offend, and who live in Norfolk, will be notified to the local Norfolk engagement officer for police action.
Norfolk currently has 70 teams with new teams awaiting training. Each of the seven districts has a designated police officer (an engagement officer) as a point of contact for the Watch Schemes, who will provide support and assistance to members.
